From time to time, a dear friend will send me a package with beaded jewelry that has met with unfortunate consequences and a request to repair the item. I never know what surprises or challenges might await me inside the package. Recently I received a package with three necklaces; one in pieces to be repaired, one intact to be restrung as a preventative measure, and one that had taken some hard knocks. I was finishing up the last bit of stringing the broken one when I noticed two seed beads where there should have only been one! What to do? Start over? Hope no one notices? A real dilema! I didn’t want to start over and the perfectionist in me couldn’t send it back with a mistake.
How did I solve the problem? Well, if magicians can have their secrets, so can beaders. I’ll never tell. The finished product turned out just fine.
